Inspiration to local attractions
Kunstpakhuset in Ikast has changing exhibitions of contemporary Danish and international art. The exhibition building is a former, now renovated, track warehouse located at Ikast Station.
Frisenborg Sculpture Park is centrally located in Ikast and was built in the 1990s. Few cities have such a large collection of important modern Danish sculptures as Ikast. The works are concentrated in Højris park and Frisenborgparken.
RemisenBrande is Central Jutlland's new exhibition center and exhibition hall with an exhibition area of approximately 1400 m2. In addition, the center is also a magnificent concert hall with cultural experiences and opportunities for people of all ages.
The Carl-Henning Pedersen and Else Alfelt Museum in Herning is an art museum located in Birk outside Herning. It was inaugurated in 1976 and has more than 4,000 works by the two artists, Carl-Henning Pedersen and Else Alfelt. In addition to the displayed works from the museum's own collections, special exhibitions with other artists associated with Cobra Movement are also organized.
HEART Herning Museum of Contemporary Art opened in 2009 in a brand new building designed by the American architect Steven Holl. The collection is based on the Danish and international conceptual and experimental art from the 1930s until today. The museum's collection consists among other things of works by Piero Manzoni, Paul Gadegaard, Ingvar Cronhammar, Bjørn Nørgaard, Joseph Beuys, Mario Merz, Knud Hvidberg, John Kørner and Troels Wörsel.
Ingvar Cronhammer's giant sculpture Elia was build to mark the millennium. The sculpture is also a manifestation of the will and the courage to walk new paths that have characterized Herning through decades. The sculpture is shaped like a hemisphere with a diameter of 60 m, above which rises a ball cap of 11 m.
Søby Lignite covers an area of 1650 hectares and it is estimated that it produced about 50 million m³ lignite in the period from 1940 - 1970, where the lignite production ended.
The area has sand hills, lignite excavations, lakes and the museum itself. The area is a relic of the 1940s, where there was an Klondike-city for the approximately 2000 persons associated with lignite mining. You can enjoy your lunch in "pavillion". Contact VisitHerning for guided tour.
Munklinde Mose (bog) is a protected area with bogs and open moorland. There is access across the bog to Karup River south of the town Munklinde at the sign "Engdraget". Here is a nice hike of about 1.4 km. The animal and especially bird life around the marsh is really worth experiencing - if you are lucky, you may see kingfishers.
Skelhøj Plantation is located southeast of Ikast and is ideal for running and walking. There are marked four different running routes with small arrows on low posts around the area. For children there are ample opportunities to explore nature and get to know it.
Isenbjerg Bakkeø was created as a moraine during the penultimate ice age some 100,000 years ago. Hill island rises abruptly 30 meters above the surrounding outwash. A fantastic natural area to go by bike or hiking. You can get to the hill island from either Tyvkærvej or Gludstedvej.

Lille Malunds Have at Klovborg is one of the many private gardens in the Brande area. The garden is more a park originally built in the English style. The garden is owned by a family through several generations and is a small paradise.
